I made this album because I want to go to Iceland. This is my way to raise money to go. I want to go once during the summer and see the land, experience the culture, and meet people. I want to go the second time in the winter to see the northern lights and make music with people I met the first time.
Influenced deeply by a number of Icelandic artists and groups over the years, the album is a reflection of impressions of the vibes, moods, and images of that far away place. As well, the album, mostly inspired during the cold rainy winter months of Oregon, was created for a listener based audience that may be "stuck inside" sitting by a fireplace cozied next to a fireplace with a warm blanket and a book or perhaps cooking a nice meal of comfort food.
Starting with a song entitled "open" and ending with "close", the album is definitely more of a journey for the listener as opposed to just a collection of songs. "untitled beauty" was used in the soundtrack of the documentary film "The 11 Eleven Project" and many have commented that the songs on the album are sound as if they belong in a movie soundtrack. One critic was so bold as to state that one his songs was, "reminiscent of the soot sprites in 'My Neighbor Totoro', by Hayao Miyazaki."
